I have spent a couple of days in Moscow attending the annual MOEX Forum, the “Davos of financial markets” for Russia, an event which has drew over 2,000 people and was followed by various 1x1 meetings with listed companies and institutional investors.
The event was somewhat a special one for us, as we also announced our partnership with the exchange, supporting them with corporate access during their three events in Moscow, New York and London. In practice this means that investors who do not have a relationship with a particular broker can still request and meet management of listed companies in direct, 1x1 setting three times a year.
Moscow Exchange was one of our first relationships in Russia and over the years we have seen the exchange develop an impressive list of initiatives for the market.
The four things stand out are for the market:
Proactive IR team: MOEX’s investor relations team is extremely active on conferences circuit, roadshows across Europe, Asia, US. The team is responsive, helpful and very personable and has build a trustworthy image amongst investor base.
Forums: MOEX Forum in New York, Moscow and London give institutional investors access to meet management of companies three times a year. The forums are supplemented by a conference usually attended by government officials that give unique insights into the market.
IR Academy - With guest speakers, MOEX hosts regular seminars for IR teams to discuss current market developments and themes in IR.
Capital Market Days - MOEX offers companies their venue to host capital market days.
I believe those are elements that other exchanges can also try to implement in their markets.
